This will be the 12th Sydney Hobart race for this powerful 42 footer designed and skippered by Ted Kaufman in the 1975 Admiral's Cup in England. Mercedes IV is now enjoying a new lease of life under IMS handicapping, placing 4th in IOR in division a of the 1989 Sydney Hobart and 9th overall under IMS handicaps. She also Won Division A of the 1989 Sydney to Mooloolaba Race.
