John Eyles won the galeswept 1984 Sydney Hobart with his Farr 40 of the same name and has enjoyed considerable success with this small boat, although the best in the AWA Sydney Hobart has been 11th in 1986. However Indian Pacific won the 1987 Sydney Gold Coast Race and finished 4th this year and will be a strong contender to Hobart.
